Yiddish Theater Walk of Fame
156 2nd Ave.
New York
NY 10003
In the Early 20th century, the East Village hosted the Yiddish theater scene. Thus the wide range of comedies, dramas, musicals and classic plays performed around the area at that time, the neighborhood has then been identified as the Yiddish Theatre District. In a similar way than the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five-pointed plaques have been embedded on the sidewalk in front of 156 Second Avenue (the original address of Second Avenue Deli), in order to honor Yiddish celebrities such as the Emmy Award winner Fyvush Finkel.
